About Dr. Cummings
Dr. Cummings has dedicated his practice to the treatment of disorders of the upper extremity, specializing in Hand, Wrist, and Elbow Surgery. Dr. Cummings is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He completed a fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at the University of Florida, Gainesville in 1996 and has earned a Certificate of Added Qualifications for Surgery of the Hand.
During this training, Dr. Cummings gained expertise in many of the latest techniques in Hand Surgery, including the reattachment of amputated digits, microvascular surgical techniques, wrist arthroscopy, management of complex hand and wrist fractures, improvement of arthritic conditions and industrial injuries. In addition to performing minimally invasive surgical techniques for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, he also treats pediatric and adult patients with traumatic or degenerative conditions of the elbow and shoulder.
Dr. Cummings received his B.A. in Biology from Binghamton University in New York and his medical degree from Howard University in 1990, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He completed his internship in General Surgery in 1991 and completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery in 1995 at Howard University Hospital, Washington, D.C.
Dr. Cummings is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the Florida Hand Society, and the National Medical Association. He is a sports enthusiast who enjoys tennis, water sports, golf, skiing, and fishing.
